As I'm sure you're aware, Record Store Day is this Saturday, April 21st. To celebrate the store will be open an hour early 10am. At 8pm we'll shift gears a bit and throw a party with music, booze, food, and other assorted goodies (I have a couple pairs of tickets to some upcoming shows I'll be giving away). I hope you can make it by at some point through the day. We've received a number of the RSD limited releases but didn't get everything we wanted (sorry, much to my chagrin, no Animal Collective or Flaming Lips).
The Zig Zags single, "Scavenger" is the kind of song that unnecessary description ruins. It's big, brash, and wants to beat you over the head. Shh... Just let it happen, you know you want it.
Oh Captured Tracks, you do put out stuff that hits my sweet spot. Holograms, a punk band out of Sweden don't screw around. Some dark-synth, a solid guitar and plenty of anger to give it an edge to cut your knuckles on. Check it out below.

This is the 12th year-end best 100 song list I've made. Many of those belong to my Magnum Opus, but usually throughout the year I tend to keep a playlist of the stuff that I've found interesting (if you've been in the store chances are that's what you're listening to if its a mix). By the end of the year it tends to extend ~150 songs deep. This year it was only about 45 songs, primarily due to the fact I spent a solid 4 months breaking my back building the physical store. When it came time to put together the list, I was woefully ill-prepared. Instead I gave myself an extra month and tried to do it right. Here it is in all of its glory. Same caveats as always, things will be missed, you will disagree, I will disagree within about a day, it's a just list, enjoy it.
